Single Ply & Multi Ply Roofing Systems

Single-ply roofing membranes are a choice that has gained more popularity in recent years. Single-ply membranes are competitively priced, have flexibility, ease of installation and are available in multiple product offers such as EPDM, TPO and PVC. Single-ply roofing membranes are formed out of a single layer that is made using reinforced thermo set or thermoplastic materials, such materials are made of components similar to plastic and rubber. Besides being a more economical choice, single-ply roofing materials are more environmentally friendly. These materials do well in a variety of climates including withstanding heat and the storms/severe weather experienced here in Texas. Their ability to handle long-term weathering and wear is unequaled. EPDM is a form of single-ply roofing and categorized as a Thermoset material. This means it cures after installation through natural weathering or that it could be fully-cured before installation. EPDM is an extraordinarily durable synthetic rubber roofing membrane and is most commonly used in low-slope roofing applications through-out the Dallas and Fort Worth areas of Texas. Multi-ply roofing systems are available as well and have their own set of benefits. The main benefit being that it is a thick assembly composed of multiple layers that will provide more security than a single-ply roofing system. Multiple layers form a surface that is more stable and rigid allowing the roofing system to serve as a platform for additional systems such as; solar energy, mechanical, living/roof gardens or to create an additional outdoor space by installing a roof deck. Multi-ply roof systems create a barrier that will be watertight and are able to provide many years of dependable protection from the elements, including extreme weather conditions. If the top layer of the roof happened to be damaged by anything, the additional layers underneath serve as a back-up system to stop any further damage.
